Photon hailed one to watch

A Reading engineering firm has been named one of the most promising new businesses in the UK.
Photon Engineering Ltd, which designs and installs small scale renewable energy systems, is one of 14 businesses to make it through to the final round of judging in the British Small Business Champions 2008 (BSBC).
The Most Promising New Business category aims to highlight the endeavours and achievements of the 500,000 plus people who start their own business each year.
Since it started in December 2006, Photon has become one of the UK’s leading designers and installers of micro-generation systems.
The firm, based in Market Place, recently installed a 1.5 tonne wind turbine in Southwark and 30 solar systems on a housing estate in Huddersfield.
Six of the 14 shortlisted businesses will be chosen to go before the team of BSBC judges, who will announce the winner at a gala evening at Claridges on November 21.
