Banking on further growth
August 04, 2008
Swedish bank Handelsbanken has appointed Trevor Harrison as the new branch manager in Reading.
Mr Harrison joins the Apex Plaza office direct from Handelsbanken’s Swindon branch, which he set up in 2006.
The chartered accountant previously managed the Reading business centre of another large international bank for more than a decade.
The appointment follows the move of former branch manager Roy Arbon to a new post at Handelsbanken’s Slough branch.
Mr Harrison said: “We are experiencing an unprecedented level of enquiries from some of the finest names in our region who are seeking new banking partners.
“I am convinced Handelsbanken will continue to grow its business strongly in Reading by providing highly personalised, competitive and dependable banking services.”
His appointment coincides with the release of strong first half-year results for the bank’s British operation, with the average volume of lending up by 40 per cent from 2007 to £4,554 million, while personal banking deposits are up by 86 per cent.
Despite the turmoil in the financial markets, the Reading team are anticipating a busy few months ahead and are looking to expand their 400 strong client base even further.
