Ex-player wins gong

March 31, 2008

A former Reading FC youth footballer has won a top award for his work in protecting people from potentially lethal superbugs.

Paul Torrent has been named franchisee of the year by Chemex International, an environmental and ecotoxicology testing firm covering Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Middlesex.

The hygiene specialist has worked closely with residential care homes in the county to provide a defensive shield against hospital-acquired infections such as MRSA and the Norovirus.

Mr Torrent, who has seen turnover rise 12 fold since he launched his franchise in Old Windsor four years ago, said: “I gain tremendous satisfaction from running a business which is helping the community while at the same time assisting my customers to make their businesses safer and more successful.”

Mr Torrent plans to cast his net wider into Watford later this year and continue developing new cleaning products.
