Talking Rugby: Snow couldn't dampen Calcutta Cup spirit

By Craig Hunter
February 10, 2012

Last Saturday the weather ruled out all the rugby that was due to be played at Holme Park (and most of the county!).

However it did not dampen the spirits in the clubhouse for Ladies Day and the first round of the Six Nations.

The ladies section of the club continues to grow and we had some great news at the recent South West Divisional rugby trials.

At under 15s level we had two girls selected – Catriona McNaney (captain) and Abbie Dow.

At under 18 level there are three girls from Reading in the squad – Rebecca Moore, Ruth Dow and Ellie Bower (captain), along with Rebecca Belcher from the Berkshire Baa Baa squad.

And at senior ladies level we are represented by captain Rachel Chidgey.

Congratulations to them all and everyone involved in ladies rugby, one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.
