This week, Rosie Skinner of Emmview Veterinary Surgery writes of how having pets can improve childrens' health.

According to a study by Health Psychologist Dr June McNicholas of the University of Warwick, 85 per cent of children aged between three and 14 said they regard their pets as friends, and 40 per cent said they would look for their pet to play with if they were bored. A further 40 per cent wanted to be with their pet if they were upset.
